Like you said, the One More Day Spidey storyline is a pretty good example of that. Pre-Superior Spider-Man I feel the storylines that focussed on Peter's relationship with Mary Jane were some of the best comics, and I really enjoyed reading them. However, less said about what's happened with Peter Park/Otto Octavius the better.

Thank you! From there, they seem to be going down a downward spiral. To hear both of these stories happening only a few days apart as well is really surprising. Not sure which one I have more of an issue with, they're both pretty bad.

I'd say that marriage in comics in general, especially from big heads like DC and Marvel, has never been something that is deemed as positive. Like you Ari, I don't particularly have positive views of marriage (at least I don't want to get married anytime soon), however that shouldn't mean it doesn't have a positive light from the comic medium. Take One More Day as a massive example where the relationship of Mary Jane and Peter Parker is offed in a second, those 20 years of them being together obviously didn't mean anything for the readers.

I guess it's not just DC that are to blame in that front, Marvel have done some pretty idiotic stuff over the last few years, especially with Peter Parker.

Great post, though! Keep it up! Cherokeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14147334445332458371noreply@blogger.com
